Avocado 4 Minute Breakfast

I quite frankly don't know how I survived in life without those precious green, scaly balls that we call avocados. Really, they don't taste of much but are still super scrumptious at the same time?!

I usually skip breakfast (slap me, I know). I genuinely now try to think a lot more about what's going into my body so I've started skipping the bowl of cocopops or pancakes in the mornings for a banana or avocado on toast. It takes no more than 4 minutes which is great for the rush in the mornings but is still super healthy!

Did you know an avocado is actually a fruit, despite always being mistaken for a vegetable? It also has a nick name of the 'Alligator Pear' due to its shape and texture.

I try to eat only wholemeal bread; or brown bread in desperate times. So, toast two pieces. No butter! Then it's time to get your avocado. I cut it in half and wrap the other half in cling film, to either have the other half for lunch/dinner the same day or breakfast the next day.

This one had been in the fridge which can be difficult to start 'mashing' as it's hard to touch but usually you can just start scraping and mashing the avocado on straight to the toast with a fork.

Did you know avocados are cholesterol-free and only have around 5 grams of fat per serving which is usually the unsaturated kind. They are also packed with protein and fibre, so they really are a healthy all rounder!

Next, it's time to add some flavour. All I do is grab some pepper and add this on top.

And here is the final result. I can't even describe how GOOD it is! Fuss free, quick, easy and healthy. Try swapping your sugary bowl of cereal this week for avocado on toast. I find I am also satisfied with how much I have eaten and don't find myself snacking if I have avocado in the mornings; something I am usually guilty for as I work from home.

Do you have any good recipes which include avocados? I want to learn more so I can use them in more meals whether it's breakfast or dinner. Yum!

  1. It does look rather tasty and it's healthy as well. I don't know why (cooking/tastes etc aren't my thing) but I have the urge to try this with a touch of paprika...Stephen :o)

  8. Avocado is on toast is amazing!! I love avocado in general and it literally can do no wrong <3 You should try it sweet - I know that sounds weird but it's SO GOOD! If I'm having it sweet then I will mash some brown sugar or sweetener in with the avo then spread it on some toast. mmmmm, it's so tasty haha! xoxo

  12. I love avocados! I used to hate them when I was younger and now I just cannot get enough. My favourite is avocado with a sprinkle of feta, chilli and black pepper on toast. Omg it is just so good! I love to make guacamole as well to dip in and add it into my salads! xx
