WASHING BRUSHES WITH DR BRONNER'S ALMOND SOAP

04/05/2017

Washing makeup brushes is the biggest chore of my life. I have too many brushes and not enough time in the day or patience to make sure my brushes are clean frequently. However, I do use my Shadow Switch after each use of my brushes, to remove colour before another application.

I was recently introduced to a brand called Dr Bronner's. They specialise in organic and fair-trade soaps, so they are all about saving the Earth. I was told that their Pure Castile Soaps are great for cleaning makeup brushes, so I gave it a go.

I chose the Almond castile soap and actually couldn't wait to get all my brushes together and do a mighty deep clean. I usually use a cheap shampoo (usually a supermarket own brand one) to clean my brushes, so I was quite excited to ditch the shampoo for some soap instead!

The scent is very much like marzipan and made me just want to eat the stuff; something which I don't recommend, because that would be stupid. Brush cleansing has got a whole lot easier since I picked up the Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette. I squeeze a little bit of the soap into the palette and use hot water to swish the brush around the palette.

I was very pleased to see how quickly it took my brushes to go from looking like an oompa loompa had got hold of them; to brushes that look as good as new. It goes without saying that they are also left smelling divine and when left to dry naturally, they still smell nice and not like that dreaded damp smell which can sometimes happen.

I have used Dr Bronner's Almond Soap a few times now and am very impressed. I don't think I will be switching back to a shampoo anytime soon. Using an almond scented soap definitely has its benefits and I can totally see why these organic soaps are taking the world by storm.

A 473ml bottle is priced at £10.49. They also have smaller and bigger bottles.

  1. Thank you so much for posting this! I literally hate washing my makeup brushes because they're one of the biggest hassles I've ever had to face. I'm going to recommend this to my mum and see if we can invest in Dr Bronner's Almond Soap. :) X

  2. This certainly sounds like it is a great way to clean your makeup brushes, which can be such a pain. I've heard of Dr. Bronner's soaps before but I didn't know you could clean your brushes with it nor did I know that there were scented varieties.
