REVIVE YOUR LUNCH-LIFE WITH NEW COVENT GARDEN SOUP

01/03/2017

Working from home has its pros and cons, but one thing I struggle with is lunch. Now, I try to eat as healthy as possible on a whole. I'm not really someone who will nip down to the kebab shop at lunch time, nor can I afford to keeping buying a Tesco meal deal 5 times a week.

A few weeks ago, I decided enough was enough of snacking in-between breakfast and dinner. I decided to look further than the snack aisles in the supermarket and pick up some New Covent Garden Soup. In order to revive my lunch-life, I knew it was time for me to start eating properly and prevent snacking in-between meals, by filling myself up with a nice lunch.

I picked up two flavours; Slow Roast Tomato and Carrot & Butternut Squash. I do actually really like soup when I have it. Nothing beats getting out of the cold and heating up some soup to warm your insides up. I was surprised to see that most of the soups that New Covent Garden offer are actually soups I would eat.

I decided to try out the Slow Roast Tomato one first and let my mum take the other one to work with her the next day. Great for on the go lunches in busy offices like hers! I kept things healthy and bought some wholemeal rolls to dip into the soup. I buttered them very lightly and was set to have the greatest lunch that afternoon.

And boy, did it deliver.

The one thing I love about these soups is the screw cap. You can easily get 2-3 lunches or dinners out of one carton and as they are currently on offer for £1 at ASDA; that price just cannot be beaten. In fact really, if we play maths, my lunch yesterday cost me around 50p, with 1 bread roll!

The soup takes just 4 minutes to heat up in the microwave and it was piping hot! The soup itself was incredibly delicious; with added onions, tomato and basil. I added some pepper to give it more of a kick and it was scrumptious. I took it straight to my desk ready to tackle that afternoon's emails!

I will definitely be considering soups for lunches in the future. They are cheap and with screw cap tops like these soups, you definitely get more than your money's worth. I ate at around 1pm and didn't feel the need to eat anything else. I felt fulfilled and warmed up to the core.

Covent Garden Soups are available at most supermarkets, but are currently on offer at ASDA supermarkets for just £1! I shall definitely be stocking up on more of the range on my next food shop!
