LIVE MUSIC BRUNCH AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL

A few weeks ago, I took my friend Andrew along to a Sunday brunch at the Verdi restaurant inside the grand Royal Albert Hall. This is the only restaurant which opens itself up to non-ticket holders, so we was really excited to pop along. 

Verdi is an Italian restaurant, but also serves Afternoon Tea at particular times. We was lucky enough to be invited along to review the Live Music Brunch. Held every Sunday at 12pm, the restaurant is buzzing with hungry people live bands or artists performing jazz or classical music. 

Tickets cost £31.50 for adults and £16.00 for children; which includes a drink, breakfast, dessert and an afternoon of musical entertainment. 

Andrew ordered a Bloody Mary cocktail and a coffee, and I went for a fresh orange juice. This was also the first time and the last time that I'll ever try a tomato based cocktail. Totally not for me!

The brunch menu is short and sweet; with majority of the dishes involving eggs. Personally, I don't tend to ever order eggs and would always usually opt for something like bacon and avocado. However, I decided to order scrambled eggs on breakfast muffins, with hollandaise sauce and smoked ham. 

Again, I would never usually order a sauce that I'm not very familiar with; but the hollandaise sauce was perfect. It wasn't too rich and complimented the smoked ham very well.

The entertainment was slightly more classical than jazz, which I didn't mind. However, both Andrew and I agreed that the brunch's entertainment on a whole would be more appreciated by older diners. 

We have both been friends for almost 10 years and have the same music taste; rock, pop punk and metal. The entertainment was lovely, but we was definitely the youngest people in there.

Andrew is vegetarian, so he ordered the 'bubble and squeak'. It's a huge plate mixed with aubergine, pepper, tomatoes, spinach, feta cheese and sunflower seeds. This is definitely something I would usually order and I'm sad I didn't, because look how yummy it looks! 

As for Andrew, he really enjoyed it and couldn't stop complimenting it after he had finished. That's always a good sign when reviewing a new restaurant!

Dessert was a choice of dessert of the day or another Bloody Mary cocktail. We both decided to go for the Chocolate Brownie and Passion Fruit Ice-cream, which was absolutely amazing. Andrew asked for his without ice-cream, but I obviously wanted the full calorie intake and asked for ice-cream. SO good.

We had a lovely time catching up and eating great food and I am very impressed with the overall experience we had. However, I would say you really do need to enjoy that music in order to really benefit from the experience. For an adult ticket which is priced at just over £30, it's not a cheaper brunch option; but definitely worth it if you or your loved ones like that music type.
