5 THINGS I'D DO IF I WON THE LOTTERY

27/03/2017

Everyone dreams of winning the lottery, but for someone like myself who has never bought a lottery ticket or scratch card before; the dream of winning millions will always live on.

Quite recently, it's really got me thinking what I would do if I woke up one day to see millions had been deposited into my bank account. Like any one else, it's unlikely I would ever have to work again and so many life long dreams would be fulfilled.

I had a recent conversation about what would be the first thing I'd buy if we won the lottery. I definitely would not be someone who splashes £200,000 on a car; and not even half of that either.

Buying a lottery ticket has never been easier. I didn't know until recently that you can actually play the lottery online on Lottoland UK. This makes it much more convent for Lotto newbies like myself, who are more likely to forget to pick up a lottery ticket in a shop.

I decided to make a fantasy list of the top 5 things I would do if I won the lottery. Obviously it depends on how much I'd win... but here's 5 things I'd love to do!

1. Buy my own house and another abroad

I'm still living at home, with no near future plans of becoming a homeowner. The joys of being a 20 year old something in London, eh? Therefore, it would be amazing to be able to buy my very own house and furnish it inside with my own style and aesthetic. Already imagining all the endless IKEA trips!

I have a dream of being able to hop on a plane and leave the UK for a week or two whenever I like. It would be SO cool to be able to do this if I had another house abroad. Somewhere hot, near a beach, with cocktails at the click of my fingers.

2. Open a dog's re-homing centre

I think it will always be a dream of mine to be able to run my very own dog's rehoming centre. I have always had dogs in my family growing up and am fortunate enough now to have my very own dog. There are so many dogs in need of new homes and some loving, so it would be a joy to own and run a place full of nothing but happy dogs.

3. Travel my bucket list
There are so many places in the world that I would love to see before the day I die. From Bali, Japan, Vietnam, Bahamas and most of America; I want to see the whole world with my very own eyes. I think if I won the lottery, then travelling would be the first thing I ever did with the money.

I would literally book a one-way ticket to somewhere, with no plans and go from there. I imagine I'd go away for at least a year and enjoy seeing new places, eating new foods and meeting new people from different cultures and backgrounds. How amazing would that be?

4. Help out the family
Of course, it would be important to me to make sure that my family are well off and can enjoy life without the worries of money, bills and such. Firstly, I'd make sure my Nan and Grandad was comfortable in a house with a garden. It's one of the top things I'd love to see in life as my Grandad is a London man and hates living in Essex currently!

5. Save and invest!
Saving money is not the first thing on the agenda when it comes to winning the lottery. Not that I know, of course. However, I'd want to make sure I invest some of the money to ensure I don't squander it all and have enough money for my future. Not saving money is one of the biggest regrets I have as a teenager.

There are many different Lotto games that you can play on LottoLand. The EuroMillions game is the most popular, with one bet costing £2. There is less than a day left with the chance for you to win £40 million! Other games include Powerball and Irish Lotto.

Fantastic post! It's a bit of a running joke in our house to say 'if only I could win the lottery'. I'd build my own house, go travelling and open my own business x

  8. I would definitely take a trip around the world, then buy a house with a garden and design it just the way I love it! And I would buy a lot of land and plant trees and flowers and start rebuilding a forest! Help my family and also save some of the money!

  9. Aww, you would do some fab stuff if you won the lottery, Ashleigh. I think I would buy a bigger house, go on holiday somewhere, and also take the kids to London for the weekend as we'd all love to see a West End show :)
