DREAMING OF THAT IDEAL DINING ROOM

01/08/2016

I have already put together my dream living room space, so I thought I would look at the next room in my dream house... the dining room.

We don't currently have a dining room which is why I really want one in the next house we buy next year. It's so nice to have a separate room to eat in which also separates the kitchen and living room. It's also really lovely to have a room to eat in with the family which makes no excuses for people to eat infront of the TV or in their rooms. Teenagers; I'm looking at you!

Here's how I would furnish my dining room...

Chairs-
The chairs are from Fishpools which is a great website to go to for home inspirations. I had a look at their dining room furniture and they have a massive summer sale on at the moment. These Axial chairs are my choice and I would get 4 of them. They are pretty simple in terms of design and I've gone for black which means they would go with anything if I re-decorated in the future.

Table-
I love IKEA since I completely re-vamped my office space using only IKEA and we all know it's THE place to go to furnish and decorate your entire home. I have seen this OPPEBY table in-store a few times and love the simplicity of it. You can also get different finishes on the top so I would definitely go for the clean top finish which means easy cleaning. Great if you have kids or messy eaters at your table!

Placemats-
You could go cheap with placemats but with a very simple table and chair set, I would go for these silver, round placemats by designer John Rocha at Debenhams. They are £24 which can be seen as quite pricey but if you're looking to make a simple room look pretty; then these are the ones for you.

Cutlery-
I found this amazing Shanghai cutlery set from Tesco or just £15. It's a 16 piece set including forks, knives, teaspoons and spoons. It's also dishwasher friendly!

Rug-
What is a cosy, homely room without a rug? Again, I have seen the SILLERUP rug in-store at Ikea a few times and always dreamed of having a big enough to space to have it. This fantasy dining room would be the perfect room to have it in.

Indoor plant-
You can pick these up anywhere these days but I do love the ones in my old trusty Ikea. They have a wide range of different ones at different prices so it just depends on how much space you have to work with. These look great in the corner of every room but just make sure you remember to water it! The one I have included is a Chrysalidocarpus plant.

  5. Our living room doubles up as a dining area too. We have a big table from IKEA, one half is my work station and the other half is for dining!
