Travel Diary: Part 2 - SWITZERLAND

09/09/2015

Did you miss part one? I went to Germany and wrote about it here. Now it's time to move on to Switzerland...

Switzerland was never a country that appealed to me enough to book a holiday there. I shamefully thought that Switzerland was all snowy and therefore it never interested me. However, I really surprised myself and fell in love with everything about the country.

Again with Eurocamp, we stayed in a little town called Susten at their Bella Tola campsite. It was located on a large hill which was surrounded by a forest and lots and LOTS of mountains in the Valais region.

I liked that the weather was the same as the UK (I don't cope very well with hot weather!) and I loved that the currency out there is Swiss Franks. I also found the country was very clean. There was no graffiti and no litter to be seen anywhere!

The swimming pool was freezing as you can imagine! However, it was really lovely swimming with such lovely views. We had lots of fun with water pistols, frisbees and bats and balls* that were sent to us by the lovely people at Ultimate Ears. I have a post on Ultimate Ears coming soon about something mega cool so look out for that one!

We had our first little taster of Italian gelato ice-cream whilst exploring the town of Sion. It was a cute little village which had all kinds of shops and lots of outlet shoe stores!

There was something very Harry Potter-esque about Sion. It's definitely due to the pointed roof on just about every building. ALSO, that building looks just like a miniature Hogwarts, right?

We also found a cool fresh water stream running through the middle of the town but it was well hidden away behind residential houses and other buildings!

On the last day as we was driving through Switzerland to leave for Italy, we drove right to the top of the mountains which literally seemed to take forever. The roads were SO windy and never seemed to end! However, it was totally worth the sicky feeling in the car because well... the views are just breathtaking...

But Josh was a little shy for a photo...

But not me! All I kept thinking was *I must have a photo of me in front of the Switz mountains to share on my blog!*

And that's it! Three beautiful days spent in Switzerland. I seriously would love to return there one day to explore the whole country. I loved everything about it but just wish I could have taken you all with me to experience it with me!

Look out for the final episode in my travel diary. We will be moving onto bellissimo* Italy and I have a lot of photos to share with you so be warned!
(*Bellissimo means 'beautiful' in Italian)

  3. Been to Switzerland a few times and everytime it never fails to impress me. If you go during winter you can go up to the top of one of the ski resorts and get the most breath-taking views (you don't have to ski, just get a hot chocolate in one of the cafes off-piste). So glad you enjoyed yourself there, definitely go again because Switzerland has so much more offer :). Also you're so right about those buildings haha, it's got Harry Potter written all over it.

    1. I would LOVE to go during winter! Infact, it's my 23rd in January so maybe I could go for that and experience it some more! I was so gutted we didn't end up going skiing but it was super pricey! Love your blog!

    Hello!

I love reading your travel posts - I'm new to blogging and seeing older travel blogs keeps me inspired to keep writing! I would love to go to Switzerland - for chocolate purpose of course! I'm not so sure if I'm ready to trying this camping business though

    1. Aww, really? Thank you, I am so glad! It's nice to get feedback like that so I know my content is being enjoyed. Definitely keep blogging and don't give it up! I wouldn't have minded camping properly but we actually stayed in a van so it wasn't like the true tent style camping experience! Not sure if I could deal with spiders though!
