Barossa Fulham - Aussie Coffee & Kitchen

04/03/2015

Barossa is an Australian coffee and cafe in Parsons Green, SW London, which has recently extended its abilities and is now cooking up a storm in the kitchen below by opening for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights 4 - 10:30pm. When they got in touch asking if I would like to pop along on Monday and try out the menu, I simply couldn't resist.

I wasn't far from Barossa as I was in Chelsea in the morning so things worked out well. I took my mum along and we found Barossa really easily which is conveniently only a five minute walk from Parsons Green tube station.

Upon entering, I was greeted by a lovely Australian waitress called Danika who introduced us to the owner, Indy. The first thing I noticed about the place was that it was really quiet, light/airy and had a really chilled vibe; the perfect place to ponder in the back corner on a weekday afternoon over coffee and cake with your macbook to blog!

There is so much choice on the menu. Usually, in most cases I see one or two things on a menu that I like the sound of but this time I was stuck for choice on so many things!

For drinks, my mum had a coffee and I went for a smoothie. After a bit of persuasion and a recommendation, Indy made me an apple, pear, ginger and mint smoothie which was SO good. I never adventure with smoothies in fear I won't like it but it's safe to say I now like ginger and mint in smoothies.

Okay, this is the part of the review where things get seriously delicious.

Both me and my mum liked the sound of the spiced mint lamb burger (which Danika recommended was really scrumptious!), with a dashing of pomegranate yoghurt as a sauce (seriously SO good!), home made slightly salted chips and tiny mini oh-so-cute gherkins.

For starters, can we just have a round of applause for the presentation? 5/5!

I have to say it was one of the best burgers I may have ever had. Together with mixed lettuce and pomegranate seeds, it was an absolute beast. So, here's me showing that bloomin' burger appreciation with a bite.

So, really in all retrospect, we were absolutely stuffed but when cake and desserts are on offer, I am immediately hungry again. Just me?!

My mum chose a carrot cake muffin which she said was extremely good - she ate it all! I was stuck between pretty much every cake on offer. It was a tough and long battle between a red velvet slice and a brownie square. I didn't want to get in-between them but I simply had to and ended up choosing the brownie which was another recommendation from Danika. If there's anything I learnt from reviewing Barossa; it's to trust the waitresses recommendations!

There we have it! It was an absolutely splendid meal with cake and drinks and I totally recommend you head on down to Parsons Green now. I'm joking, but you should seriously check it out soon for brilliant food, with excellent service in a relaxed and chilled out atmosphere.

I shall definitely be returning! Thanks so much to Indy for inviting us down and having us for the afternoon and Danika for the excellent recommendations and overall service (with a smile!).

Food: 5/5
Service: 5/5
Presentation: 5/5
Waiting time: 15-20 minutes (not too quick, not too long!)
Will I return again? Yes - Already planning to!

Disclaimer: Barossa kindly invited me to review the dinner menu in consideration for a review on Being Ashleigh. However, all opinions are 100% honest. All words and photographs are my own.

  13. Caribou Coffee is one of my personal favorites when it comes to coffee shops. The nice thing is, they also offer ground blends to take home and brew as well. In the meantime, if you're looking to pop in and order a gourmet coffee drink at Caribou (besides black coffee), here are some low cal choices.
